CONFUSIONS IN ADVAITA VEDANTA – Ignorance and Its Removal: (Reflowable Kindle Edition)
It has previously been announced that the hardback and paperback versions of this book, published in India by Indica Books, are not expected until the new year. Since they will not themselves be issuing any electronic versions of the series, I have been permitted to do so through Advaita Vision.
The versions of Vols. 1 and 2 that have already been issued are facsimiles of the print versions. This means that the full contents list and index of each book are included, since the page contents are identical. Thus, those versions are ideal for ‘academic’ study on
laptops or PCs. Unfortunately, reading on a tablet or phone is much less convenient, since text may be too small at full-screen to be comfortable.
Accordingly, I have revamped the content, removing pagination and changing the Devanagari font so that pages can be resized as desired and will flow naturally on any device. The Kindle publishing process also automatically generates a hyperlinked contents list of the main headings. Because page numbering is lost, however, the index is no longer useful and has been removed. The previously noted problems, regarding words withoutspaces between them, have also been fixed in this edition.
Unfortunately, Amazon insist upon treating the two versions as different books so that neither the author, nor the reader, can switch from one format to the other. New readers should ensure that they choose correctly between the ‘flowable’ and the ‘fixed layout’ versions. The descriptions of the flowable versions will clearly identify that and the word ‘Reflowable’ is included in the subtitle of the books as listed at Amazon. The fixed-layout versions will either have no indication at all or will contain the words ‘Print Replica’ in the title.
This announcement refers to Volume 2 – ‘Ignorance and Its Removal’, in the Blue cover. I will now begin work on converting Volume 1 – ‘Knowledge, Experience and Enlightenment’ to reflowable. At present, only the print replica version is available.
