Confusions in Advaita Vedanta: Vol. 1 – Knowledge, Experience and Enlightenment 2022 | Indica Books (India) | 978-93-81120-28-6 (hardback); 978-93-81120-29-3 (paperback) The first of a series, this book highlights serious misconceptions in modern non-dual teaching and corrects them using traditional scriptural authority. Vol. 1 specifically focuses on clarifying the nature of enlightenment as knowledge gained from authentic teaching rather than any sort of experience. Details and extractsThe book is available in both hardback and paperback formats. It can always be purchased from the publisher – Indica Books (HB – ₹995; PB – ₹850) but stocks to Amazon are unreliable and a check today showed them being delivered at exorbitant prices from other distributors. I have recently published this on Kindle and it is available in either a ‘print replica’ version (retaining contents list and index but difficult to read on small devices) or a ‘reflowable’ version that can be resized for optimal viewing but loses the detailed contents list and index. Finding the Self: A Guide Through the Minefield of Modern Advaita 2027 (Expected) | Mantra Books | ISBN tbd This companion book to Self Seeking could also be considered as a companion to ‘Back to the Truth’, since it provides explanatory examples of how not to teach Advaita. The internet has made it all too easy for those who do not really understand the teaching, nevertheless to market themselves as authorities.Completed and copy-edited, it is working its way through the publisher’s pre-sales and marketing procedures. |

| Advaita without Scripture
Planned for the future. A book that aims to teach Advaita without any reference to scriptures or Sanskrit but which avoids the pitfalls of neo-Advaita and Satsang teaching. Should be an interesting challenge for me and a godsend to those who are allergic to Sanskrit! |

Incredible Sir. I have most of your books as hard copies and have read the majority of them. SvAmi Paramarthananda ji had (and still has ?) an enormous influence on you, but what really fascinates me is your open-mindedness towards different perspectives and your ability to explain often complex topics in a simple way. PraNAms.
Many thanks, Tom. Yes, indeed, Swamis D and P have certainly been the most significant influences in the past 10 – 15 years. It was not until writing the ‘Confusions’ books that I found occasional aspects with which I disagreed. Language is an endlessly fascinating topic!
Best wishes,
Dennis
